Signed and inscribed to Peggy ( Margaret) Roscoe who after her Cape Town years lived near Hartley, Southern Rhodesia ( now Chegutu, Zimbabwe ), but socialised with Tretchikoff on numerous occasions, including canasta sessions with him and his wife at their splendid mansion in Bishopscourt, Cape Town. Her iconic painting by Tretchikoff called Crawfish Seller which she bought prior to 1952, was later exhibited in Durban with her permission in 1959, and became one of the subjects of the artist's many and profuse lithographic reproductions, all iconic monuments to mid century "kitsch". She later made a Christmas card of her painting on a raised plate, a scarce original of which is also for sale by us at the time of listing. Seller Inventory # 80262
