Delft Charger Plate by Boch Frères La Louviere - Dutch Riverside Scene - Wall Hanging Décor

Measuring 25cm in diameter, this wall-mounted charger plate is a testament to the skilled craftsmanship of the renowned Boch Frères Keramis factory, founded in 1841. The reverse side bears the distinctive "BOCH" mark along with intricate scrolls and leaves, a hallmark of authenticity and quality.

Enhance your home decor with this elegant piece that evokes a sense of nostalgia and sophistication. Whether displayed in a living room, dining area, or hallway, this vintage treasure is sure to spark conversations and admiration. Despite its age, this plate is in good condition, free from chips, cracks, or flaking, and ready to add a touch of historic charm to your space.

Boch Frères La Louviere: The Boch Frères company was founded in 1841 by Victor and Eugène Boch, along with Baron J.G. Nothomb. It was located in La Louvière, Belgium, and was known for its ceramic production. The factory, known as Keramis, produced a variety of ceramics including earthenware, stoneware, and Delftware imitations.

Dutch Colonial Style: This plate depicts a scene characteristic of Dutch colonial style, featuring a riverside scene with a boat, bridge, trees, water, a woman, child, and a church. This style was popular in Europe, particularly during the late 19th and early 20th centuries when there was a fascination with Dutch culture and landscapes.

Condition and Dating: The plate appears to be in good condition considering its age, and the absence of chips, cracks, or flaking is positive. It's likely from after 1880, possibly from the early 1900s. The two holes on the back are intended for wall mounting.

Delft China Imitations: Boch Frères, like many other ceramic manufacturers of the time, produced imitations of Delft China, Rouen, and Sevres copies. These imitations were popular due to the prestige associated with the original Delftware from the Netherlands.

Markings: The markings on the back of the plate,  "BOCH" and the letters "SC"

This  plate not only serves as a beautiful decorative piece but also carries historical significance as a representation of ceramic production during the 19th and early 20th centuries. Its connection to the Boch Frères company adds to its value and collectability.
