Fine Victorian 'Royal Worcester' Blush Ivory Jug (1890)
This lovely, antique, Royal Worcester 'blush ivory' ewer or claret shaped jug from the late 1800's has been beautifully hand-painted in a floral decoration and is signed on the base by artist and principal modeller for Royal Worcester, 'James Hadley' (J.H). The tall, fine porcelain jug has a slender, tapering form with gilt rings around the body with an unusual gilt entwined handle, and is hand-painted with various flowers, with gilt flowers near the top in relief. This fine piece is in excellent condition and carries the early puce backstamp with the letter 'a' underneath dating this jug to 1890. It is also stamped with the model number '1047' and the registration number 'Rd No.17049', as well as the artists initials 'J.H'. It stands 20cm high with a base diameter of 8cm and weighs 281g.
