Victorian/Edwardian Stumpwork Embroidery in vintage gilt and black frame and hand coloured mount. I have taken photos both in and out of frame for you to better appreciate the quality of the embroidery work.   From the style of the ladies' dresses and the method of embroidery, dates from pre 1910 when this time-consuming work was popular. . Excellent condition, Complete with no damage. Careful exquisite hand embroidery. Look at the detail in the garden plants, lake, trees, path and especially the the ladies in billowy dresses, one with small umbrella.

Judging from the very old Johannesburg shop label at the back, which is partly worn away, there is no phone number, which seems to confirm the early date. On its original backing board.

The original embroidery is 33 cm x 21.5 cm. Mount is 21.5 cm x 29.5 cm. Frame is 26 cm x 34  cm.

Hand coloured mount.
