Condition:
- The design is centred to left (which is common for these early issues).
- Clear white paper.
- Fine perfs.
- The mark on the back is an ink smudge.
- Common Cancel.
- Clear design with vibrant Dark Lilac/Violet.
Note:
- The R1,250 asking price is a 80 % markdown on the 2017 Scott CV of $350.
- The only way to distinguish between the Scott #70 and #78 shades are the colour (the stamps are otherwise identical). The #70 has Red Lilac shades and the #78 Lilac shades.
- Attached is a #70c Violet shade sold at auction Jul 2015 for $850 (R15,750); 2017 Scott CV = $2,250). My stamp being sold now as a Dark Lilac, closely match the colour of the attached Violet shade? The Violet versus Dark Lilac shades can be studied in more detail on TheSwedishTiger website.
- Not having an Authentication Certificate, the stamp is offered as the much lower value #78 Dark Lilac.
