The photograph shows Clifton before any permanent human habitation ( before even the hotel ). The only sign of humans are the small fishermen's paths near the beaches.

The Twelve Apostles and Camps Bay are in the distance.

The photograph has been attributed to William Charles Romaine Broom, a keen early Cape Town photographer. I possess the original album from which the photograph came, and only 20 of these canvas reproductions will ever be made. This is number 3.
