Abutilon  /  Chinese Lantern /  Lantern Plant     
Abutilon is a perennial shrub native to the southwestern United States and northern Mexico. It has small, oval-shaped leaves and produces beautiful Lantern-Shaped flowers. It is found in dry, rocky habitats.
Abutilon  is used as an ornamental plant in gardens and as a houseplant. It is also used as a medicinal plant to treat various ailments such as fever, headache, and skin diseases.
Abutilon pycnodon has  bell-shaped flowers with five petals. The seeds are small and black.
Seeds should be sown in spring or early summer in a warm, sunny position in well-drained soil. Cuttings can be taken in late spring or early summer and should be planted in a well-drained potting mix. Water regularly and keep in a warm, sunny position.
