Exquisite fine watercolour with enamel by a fascinating and talented artist, whose career was tragically cut short when he was killed in World War 2.
In a charming and colourful Art Deco fantasy style.
Watercolour is on paper stuck down on card. There are a couple of very light and small stains caused by previous framing, that do not detract from the enjoyment of the artwork.
Waiting for you to give it the frame it deserves.
Watercolour is 13 cm x 15.5 cm.
Local Postnet to Postnet only R99 or The Courier Guy R99
Registered airmail overseas will also cost ONLY R99.
Paintings by this artist are extremely rare and he still has an excellent reputation. Read the very interesting Wikipedia page on this artist:
He was part of the The London Group and the group of young artists known as the Cork Street Front and exhibited at the seminal Special Wartime Show at the New Burlington Galleries.
He ran the avant-garde Storran Gallery with his boyfriend Eardly Knollys which promoted Modernist Art and exhibited works by Picasso, Modigliani, Monet and many others, now regarded as the biggest names ever in art. He was killed in enemy action at the age of 34 while serving with the Royal Navy in 1941 during World War 2.
Incredibly rare to find an important original work of art from the Art Deco era like this in Cape Town.
