Forrest Reid was an Northern Irish novelist, literary critic and translator. He was, along with Hugh Walpole and J. M. Barrie, a leading pre-war novelist of boyhood. Also called the Hemmingway of Ireland.
Forrest Reid, (born June 24, 1875, , Ire.died Jan. 4, 1947, Warrenpoint, County Down), Northern Irish novelist and critic who early came under the influence of Henry James; he is best known for his and mystical novels about boyhood and adolescence and for a notable autobiography, Apostate (1926).
