Protective statues designed in pairs: Female (yin) protects the inhabitants, Male (yang) protects the structure

Known as shi or shishi in China, resembling Chow Chow and Shih Tzu breeds

Also referred to as Chinese guardian lions, guardian dogs, or stone temple dogs
