Hardcover first Travel Book Club edition, 1938. The jacket is whole, lightly worn and rubbed in places, with larger chips to the edges and spine ends. It is protected in a removable plastic sleeve. The quarter cloth boards are clean and square, with a spot of sunning to each end of the spine. There is light scattered foxing to the initial few pages, and to the external pages edges, but the pages are otherwise clean and unmarked. The fold-out map at the end of the book is present and intact. This copy belonged to Louis Weyers, the grandson of Jan Smuts, and his handwritten details, and the stamp of A.F. Weyers, appear on the first end-paper, dated 1967.
