Kurt Lossgott is a world-renowned sculptor who focuses on memorial portrait busts, large public sculpture and sculpted trophy design. He has a diverse portfolio that showcases his ability to work in any size and media producing an exquisite range of indoor and outdoor sculpture, corporate trophies, and big cups.

Early career highlights in public sculpture have included "Flying Owl with Child" at the Johannesbug Zoo (1972), and the now defunct "Peacock Fountain" for the Oriental Plaza (1974).  Since the 1970s, Kurt has become particularly well known for his 'Horse' series, 'Tomorrow' series and more allegorical works like the 'Spirit of Africa'.  After developing a local and international reputation for animal and figurative sculpture throughout the 1980s, the sculptor began to focus increasingly on exclusive trophy design in the following two decades.  His corporate clients include the Vodacom Cricket Cup, The Lions Rugby Cup, SA Rugby, South African Breweries, Mondi, Siemens, Renault, Primedia, South African Airways, as well as government commissions.

The four metre high "Mandela and Child" at the Nelson Mandela Academic hospital in Umtata (2002) showcases his figurative work in its maturity.  The artist particularly enjoys tackling special projects like the "Enviroserv Christmas Tree" (2009), a ten metre high temporary construction at Cresta Shopping Centre combining plastic bottles, broken chairs, bumpers, headlights and 8000 solar-powered LED lights.
