Title: Vintage Wedgwood English Cathedrals "Ely, Queen Of The Fens" Decorative Wall Plate.
Manufacturer: Wedgwood of Etruria & Barlaston, Made in England Nov 1946.
Diameter: 26.5cm.
Height: 2.0cm
Info: Wedgwood impression as well as the stamp 11L46 on the plate, indicates that the plate was manufactured in November 1946. (Wedgwood used sequential numbers to indicate the month of manufacture and letters such as "L" to indicate the Makers Mark and the last two numbers are the year of manufacture.)
"Ely, Queen of the Fens. It was a woman who raised the first edifice, St. Ethelreda Queen of Northumbria who took refuge in the home of her girlhood and became Abbess in 673. Four distinct styles of Gothic architecture can easily be traced in the building. They however group together in a most impressive manner"
