Title: Gravy Boat With Fixed Underplate by Hertel Jacob Bavaria.
Manufactured By: Hertel Jacob, Made in Bavaria Germany circa 1960's.
Height: 9 cm.
Length: 22 cm.
Width: 15cm.
Info: A gravy boat with a fixed underplate from Bavaria designer Hertel Jacob, beautifully shaped and decorated with a modern style that is very easy on the eye.
Exquisite detail on the decorative design on white porcelain.

The factory was originally established in 1906 by business partners Jacob and Schödl. After a few years Schödl reduced his interest in the factory and Jacob had to look for a new partner. He found Hertel who got involved in management.
Consequently renamed to Porzellanfabrik Hertel, Jacob & Co. G.m.b.H. and restructured in 1913 the pottery factory became famous as their work was said to be comparable to Rosenthal of Bavaria.
After World War II, the company modernized and automated the manufacturing process. This lead to a slight drop in quality. Decorations and design didn't quite reach the prewar standard.
In 1968 the factory was taken over by the Melitta company. The porcelain part of the business wasn't able to sustain itself. Eventually in 1969 former Hertel Jacob porcelain factory ceased to exist.
Condition: Very Good, some fading on the gold trim in places otherwise a lovely looking piece.
Price: R 245.00 Inc Vat.
