Jeopardy and a Jeep: Africa Conquered by Two Women Professors
Dorothy Rogers

Binding: Hard cover

Book Condition: Good

Edition: 1959 First Edition

Detailed and readable account of two American women's 25,000 mile round-Africa trip in a Jeep station-wagon. The women, two intrepid American teachers "d'un certain âge" list the highs and lows of their heroic trip, crossing the Sahara southwards, then down through Central Africa to the Cape, north through eastern Africa, the Sudan and Egypt, finally crossing from Tunisia to Italy by boat. Period racist attitudes, no language except English between them, much naivety but also fascinating impressions of Africa in the 1950s as decolonisation was just taking hold. Interesting read for the budding trans-Africa or armchair traveller.
