This is the first extended monograph on the South African artist William Kentridge (b. 1955). Kentridge began making drawings and etchings at the age of twenty, and has since been involved in numerous multi-disciplinary projects -- including a series of animated films begun in 1989 called Drawings for Projection, the play Woyzeck on the Highveld, for which he collaborated with a puppet company, and video installations from the 1997 documenta X. The book amply documents all his work, and includes an extensive essay by scholar Christov-Bakargiev and biographical chronology.
