Hardcover edition issued on first publication by The Book Society Ltd, in association with George Allen & Unwin Ltd., April 1958. The jacket is whole and bright, with the original removable Book Society promotional band also intact. The brown boards with silver titling and blind-stamped Easter Island head on the front are square and sharp. There is a patch of sunning affecting the red top-stained pages. The first end-paper contains a bookplate of a previous owner, and both this page and the last end-paper contain two faint tape marks each. The pages are otherwise clean and unmarked.
