Identifying plate I Type III:
- Attached The Imprint shows that the plate has in the margin the wording ...BANK NOTE E....
- Attached enlargement of the left side of my stamp shows the top of the words ...BANK NOTE E... which confirms an Imprint match.
- The attached full pane shows that ...BANK NOTE E... occurs along the left column stamps and it is next to 5th stamp from the top.
- The attached Left Pane layout shows that the 5th stamp from the top is stamp no 41. And the legend for the Orange colour is Type III.
- So, my stamp is stamp no 41 on the left pane, and is Type III.
Used or Unused (no gum)?
- There is a black smudge of a probable postmark at the right hand side towards the bottom. Used CV is used.
Condition:
- The design is centred very-fine with 4 fine margins.
- Postmark free design, showing vibrant green colour and fine lines.
- Few short perfs at top and right side imperf.
- Few mm tear on left (near top) can be viewed on photo.
Value of Type III (used):
- PS 2017 Scott Mint No Gum is $2,150.
- 2017 Scott used Catalogue Value $200 = R3,700.
- Being a partial Imprint margin copy (and indicating precise position on plate), make it a sought after collectible stamp (even with the small imperfections).
- The R1,495 asking price gives a 60% markdown on the CV.
