Originally published in 1949, this is a 1955 reprint. An adventure story of convict days, bushrangers, and outback adventures with Aborigines. Jeremy Danby, who had been first mate in a clipper, set about proving his brother's innocence of a crime, and in doing so was impressed to serve in the naval escort accompanying one of the fleets transporting convicts to the settlement in Sydney in New Holland. The prison-hulks, the grim voyage 'down under' and the dangers and hardships of the Australian pioneers are graphically described. Jeremy's courage and resolution involve him in one adventure after another before his object is attained.
