Amazon Reviewer: This is the purest Weather Report record of them all. Better than Heavy Weather, Black Market, Mysterious Traveller, Procession, etc. I have them all and this is DEFINITELY THE COOLEST, even if not exactly the most fancy, playing-wise. Shorter's saxophone reaches here its absolute zenith of jagged, virtuoso, funkified, supercreative non-conformity; the drums are in a groove fever and the funky basslines couldn't be better--Jaco on his best day never generated this much pure unadulterated funk because he was too busy displaying his chops. And this was the first record where Zawinul really came into his own, utilizing the magic of analog synthesizers rather than the cheesy whack electric piano sound of the previous records. In short, you simply cannot call yourself or claim to be a respectable Jazz or Fusion music afficianodo without being deeply versed in the immortal magic of "Sweetnighter."

LP Grading Guide
Mint (M): Absolutely perfect in every way. Hardly ever, or never been played, possibly even still sealed.
Near Mint (NM or M-): A nearly perfect record. A NM or M- record will play perfectly, with no imperfections during playback. The record shows no obvious signs of wear and has been well taken care of.
Very Good Plus (VG+): Record surfaces may show some signs of wear and may have slight scuffs or very light scratches that don't affect the listening experience.
Very Good (VG): Light scratches are evident that might affect the sound, especially in soft passages and during a song's intro and fade, but will not overpower the music otherwise.
Cover Grading Guide
Mint (M): Perfect. No wear, marks, or any other imperfections.
Near Mint (NM or M-): The LP cover has no creases, folds, seam splits, cut-out holes, or other noticeable similar defects.
Very Good Plus (VG+): Picture sleeves and inner sleeves will have some slight wear, slightly turned-up corners, or a slight seam split. An LP cover may have slight signs of wear, and may be marred by a cut-out hole, indentation, or cut corner.
Very Good (VG): Labels may be marred by writing, or have tape or stickers (or their residue) attached. The same will be true of picture sleeves or LP covers. However, it will not have all of these problems at the same time.
