Description: Antique Meissen winged cherub Soldier. Ref. OR 39

Date: 19th Century
History: The production of porcelain in the royal factory at , near , started in 1710 and attracted artists and artisans to establish, arguably, the most famous porcelain manufacturer known throughout the world. Its signature , the crossed swords, reportedly one of the oldest in existence was introduced in 1720 to protect its production. Among the developments pioneered by Meissen are the porcelain figurines, and the introduction of European decorative styles to replace the imitation of Asian decoration of its earliest wares.
Marks/Observations: Marked on the bottom with the underglaze Meissen blue crossed swords seal. The number 73 in gold lettering and an inscribed 8 are visible.
Condition: Overall good, old repair to hands
