A rare find, this lovely engraved sterling silver matches case was made for the Royal Mail Steam Packet Company which was a British shipping company. The piece was perhaps a gift for one of the higher-ranking employees or a gift to a client or souvenir for a passenger. It is hallmarked for Birmingham England with date letter for 1922, a time when the company was at its height, before being replaced as the Royal Mail Lines in 1932.
