A lovely 'William IV' solid silver vinaigrette with its original internal gilding and complete with its original sponge inside. It is rectangular in shape with a small vacant cartouche, and the grill has an attractive floral pierced pattern. The vinaigrette was made in Birmingham, England in 1835 by silversmith 'Francis Clark'(F C), a well-regarded box maker between 1827 and 1849. He also served as a magistrate, and then immigrated to Australia in 1850 for family health reasons and started an engineering business. All the hinges are in good order and the lid and grill fit snugly, overall the vinaigrette is in excellent condition. The box measures 4cm x 2,7cm x 1,4cm.
