Hardcover published 1926 by Macmillan and Co., Limited, no jacket. The boards are bumped and worn, with several marks, and a band of white ink at the base of the spine, that has a light crease the length of the spine. The inside front board contains the name stamp of a previous owner. The half-title page and frontispiece page are both detached but present in the book, with several pencil notations on the half-title page. A Garlick's Subscription Library stamp appears at the foot of chapter 1. The external page edges are lightly soiled. There is some scattered foxing throughout the book, but the pages are otherwise clean and unmarked.
