The Tylos Period Burials in Bahrain - The Glass & Pottery - Soren F Andersen - HB - 2007

Since 1970 the Bahraini authorities have excavated a very large number of burials from the so-called Tylos Period (c. BC 300 to AD 600).The results of these excavations have now being published. This first volume presents c. 300 glass vessels from East Roman and Mesopotamian workshops, and c. 1800 pottery vessels of local produce. The interpretation of this material has made possible via a new chronology of the Tylos period, and casts new light on relations between the Hellenistic Kingdoms and the Roman Empire on the one side and the Arabic region and the East on the other. The book is well illustrated with drawings and photos, a lot of them in color.
