History: Rowland and Marsellus was anAmerican company based in New York between 1893-1933. They specialized in importing fine potteryfrom Staffordshire depicting historical views of important cities in America.Although the backstamp shows Staffordshire, England, this is where the platewas made and NOT where the company was situated.
Description: This is a blue and whitetransfer printed flow blue designed plate with an unusual rolled rim,depicting historical Boston (USA) with a central view of the Fanduil Hall andsix cartouches showing other historical buildings in the area. No actual datehas been established for these plates but they are thought to be from aroundthe end of the 19thCentury.
Condition: In good condition, showinga crackled glaze (age related) and a fine glaze crack to the back
