Hardcover forth impression published 1952 by Jonathan Cape. The price-clipped jacket is otherwise whole, with wear, creases and short tears to edges. The blue cloth boards with silver titling are clean, with sunning to edges. Bookplate of Stuart Macpherson, past president of the Mountain Club of South Africa pasted to the inside front board. The page opposite contains a hole in the centre, a pen gift inscription, and tape marks that have leached through to the following page. Fold-out map at the rear is present and intact, and further tape marks to last endpaper. The pages are otherwise clean and unmarked.
