MP 89
An antique, not marked Sarreguemines Majolica pitcher depicting a pig. The nostrils are the spout.
It is made ca. 1890.
A nice mustard-coloured glaze with link-red highlights at the nose, ears and cheeks. The glaze has a nice crackle, which is not strange given its age of more than 120 years and only contributes to the charm of the pitcher.
It is otherwise without damage.
Can be used as a water pitcher, though also as a gravy boat, where the grease will be separated from the gravy when poured through the nostrils.
