Antique Solid Silver 'Hairpin' Box
This scarce, fine quality, antique, sterling silver 'hairpin' box is beautifully made with a hinged sprung lid, a rounded base (for easy accesses to pins), which stands on four lovely shaped, short legs and is topped off with a raised hairpin on the lid. The silver container from the early 1900's is English hallmarked on the inside of the lid as well as on the base for Birmingham 1904 and stamped 'H.C.D' for silversmiths 'Henry Clifford Davis'. I've come across a couple of silver-plated hairpin boxes on the net, but this is the first solid silver one I've seen. This scarce collectable piece is in excellent condition and measures 9,2cm x 3,3cm, stands 3cm high and weighs 52g.
