Book still in a good used condition considering it's age - (Same as me) - Translated by Solvi & Richard Bateson - Published in London by Eyre & Spottiswoode,  in 1947 - First English Edition - pg. 190 - Pale yellow cloth, red lettering to spine - Previous owner's name neatly inside.   >>>    The hero is a Norwegian factory worker who has joined the Resistance movement, and his book is written on odd scraps of paper, a saga for his wife and child. Throughout his story of man's brutality the reader is struck by his complete tenderness towards them both. The worker is left in hiding in the flat of a prosperous Oslo solicitor he is suspicious of the rich, that other class - he feels he cannot trust them. Then his activities force him to leave the country, and he forgets class distinction in the spirit of comradeship which comes to the gang in their hours of trial. But the high hopes for the fugitives for the journey to England seem doomed from the start, and the journey heads not to England but to death in a concentration camp.
