Hardcover published by Macmillan & Co, 1910 1st reprint. The boards are clean, but are lightly bumped and worn in places, and the spine is mildly cocked. There is intermittent foxing throughout the book to a greater or lesser degree, and a few of the pages are showing some netting at the binding, notably page 17. Collected and arranged from "original native sources", these stories "may soon be forgotten; so we have written them down for your amusement before it is too late and no one tells them any more", ends the introduction, written in Barberton in 1908. Illustrated by W. Herbert Holloway, but missing two of the eight plates, opposite pages 49 and 183.
