Beautiful and fragile ... but are they really gems from the VOC period?
The author is, like many other people, fascinated by glass and porcelain which are engraved with the monogram VOC, the initials of the Vereenigde Oosindische Compagnie (Dutch East-India Company). He went on a treasure hunt in South Africa, Amsterdam and London to find the real McCoy between the many reproductions. Few owners suspected that their treasured so-called VOC glassware are actually modern fakes. With black and white photographs. Printed on thick, cream-coloured paper.
First published 1951 by Maskew Miller, Cape Town. Condition: Good. First and last flyleaf stained by jacket fold. Dust jacket in poor condition with a number of tears and pieces missing. Binding solid.
