First Edition, Patrick Stephens, 1979, Hardback with removable protective plastic wrap - Automobiles - 216 pp. Pre-war motoring and Motorsport fully illustrated with b&w photographs.
Looks at the decade when motoring for just the wealthy was under attack and motoring for Everyman had arrived. On the scene came driving tests, compulsory insurance, the 30 mph speed limit, a few arterial roads and the new 'road houses'.
All aspects of mostly British motoring during the decade.
The Sporting side at all levels, Racing, Trials, Rallies & Concours, the typical British Bank Holiday excursion to the Seaside. The Cars on offer, the accessories that went with them. Its all here in this very nostalgic look at Motoring in Great- Grandad's day, or if you are Great-Grandad.
Written by a freelance writer formerly of Autocar Magazine and previously manager of Triumph's racing and rally team. An absorbing and nostalgic read.
We combine postage, so do look at our other items on offer.
