Rare - Victorian 'Wooden Round' Whistle (James Dixon)
This very early, rare, turned wooden, round Victorian whistle with the 'Sheffield Fipple', was probably made by 'James Dixon & Sons' in the middle 1800's, and was, I've read, probably a very early police whistle. It measures 6,6cm in length, with a width of 3cm at its widest, works well and is in excellent condition.
Note: This whistle belonged to the late Mervyn Mitton, author of the book 'The Policeman's Lot' (A reference book on antique British police equipment).
