Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam. The First and Fourth Renderings in English Verse. LIMITED EDITION SIGNED BY FAMOUS ILLUSTRATOR  WILLY POGANY TWICE.

The script of the first English translation and the fourth English translation, packed with illustrations and decorations on virtually every page, including 12 stunning full page colour plates by Willy Pogany. 

Published in London, George G. Harrap, 1930. 

Detailed description: 

Condition very good indeed.Twice  Hand signed by celebrated illustrator Willy Pogany and numbered 506 of 750 of the English issue. The hand signed etching by Willy Pogany tipped in at title page. All colour raised plates present and complete. Numerous illustratons and smaller raised plates in text, all by Pogany. Full green decorated leather boards look fresh and bright.  Bright gilt on spine.The leather is full Persian green crushed Niger morocco . Text leaves are thick China paper. 12 raised colour plates by Pogany with card mounts. Original green and cream endpapers. Rough cut edges, apart from gilt on the top edge, which gilt  is slightly worn at the corner. No marks in text or names inside. Original light marbled endpapers. One previous purchaser, Charles and Muriel Rycroft and thence to his second wife. From the estate sale of the contents of their mansion at  Harcroft House, the 24 acre estate in Constantia, Cape Town,  in 2019. The only copy of this edition comparable in condition is being offered by a London dealer at the time of listing for $1693. altough this copy does have the slipcase. This book is thus competitvely priced.
