No início dos anos 1950, Eduardo Lopes acompanhou a frota bacalhoeira, como piloto e como imediato, aos bancos da Terra Nova e da Gronelândia. Sendo fotógrafo amador, fez o levantamento dessas suas experiências através de emotivas e exaustivas imagens, em parte divulgadas nesta edição do Centro Português de Fotografia.
