One of the greatest men of our time.

Albert Schweitzer (1875-1965) was an Alsatian-German theologian, organist, musicologist, writer, humanitarian, philosopher, and physician. He was known especially for founding the Albert Schweitzer Hospital, which provided medical care for the natives of Lambaréné in Gabon. He received the 1952 Nobel Peace Prize. This is the first selection from his many writings, chosen and arranged to give a clear view of his thinking and his contribution to civilisation.

First British edition, revised and enlarged 1952, published by Adam and Charles Black, London. Condition: Inside good. Jacket stained. Also worn and torn at edges and corners.
