1970 Hand-Painted Porcelain Macau Dish with Roosters and Gold Gilding

Design: Small hand-painted porcelain dish featuring vibrant roosters and broad gold gilding.

Markings: Bottom of the bowl marked "FABRICADO EM MACAU" in red, with "Qianlong Nian Zhi" (Qianlong Period, Made) dating to 1970. Stamp indicates decoration in Macau.

Dimensions: Measures 10 cm in diameter and 2.5 cm in height; weight is 80 grams.

Condition: Excellent condition with no chips or cracks.

Historical Significance:

The dish reflects the rich history of Macau as a crucial hub for international trade, particularly with Portugal, since the 16th century.

In the 1930s and 40s, Macau served as a neutral refuge during conflicts, further enriching its cultural and historical significance.

By the mid-19th century, Macaus prominence in trade waned as Hong Kong rose, but it remained a significant cultural and historical enclave.

Macau transitioned to Chinese sovereignty in 1999, marking the end of an era and the beginning of a new chapter under China as a special administrative region.

Collector's Note: This piece is a valuable addition to collections of vintage Asian porcelain, representing a unique blend of Chinese artistry and Macaus historical legacy.
