RARE KNITTING NEEDLE GAUGE AND COUNTER
Almost antique and rare 1930s Viyella knitting needle gauge and knitting recorder with a Mabel Lucie Attwell transfer of 2 adorable children playing with yarn, made in England, marked "patents pending" makes it one of the earliest made. The chromed top and bottom where the gauges are found, rotate just like a modern recorder, the numbers are painted on the barrel and a little window on the side drum lid reveals each number in turn. A spring wound around the central pin in the drum keeps the ends tensioned. The earliest ones are enameled blue, like this one, the later versions are black. In excellent almost antique condition, height 4cm, dia 4cm. Please note due to using the camera flash the colours show lighter than the actual item.
PICTURED BELOW, SAMPLERS I HAVE FOR SALE ON DANCING FAERIE, THEY ARE NOT INCLUDED IN THIS AUCTION.
