Mullard / Phillips 151U (1954) Bakelite Valve Radio Bluetooth Speaker conversion
The Valve radio itself does not work but is mostly intact. The original power chord has been removed.
A modern 5W mono Bluetooth receiver and 4" speaker have been fitted.
The speaker is powered by USB (5V) and has an inline on/off switch. It will run off just about any cell phone charger or a power bank.
A blue LED has been fitted to light the front panel.
All the modern parts have been mounted using butyl rubber so could be easily removed.
The sound is similar to what the original would have been. There is not much bass, but it does play quite loud. It will automatically go into Bluetooth pairing mode when switched on and plays tones to indicate connection status. The front switches and knobs dont have any functionality but do physically move. Volume must be controlled from the sending device. There is no volume control on the speaker itself. It is powered on and off by the inline switch on the USB cord. All the old connections on the rear also have no functionality.
