Rare Early 20th Cent Chinese Famille Rose Pig Large Trinket Pot

Such a gorgeous famille rose pig trinket box. Hand painted in Sky blue, pink, green and red revealing flowers, peaches and fluttering butterflies. The Chinese would also use this box as a neck pillow. In perfect condition for anyone's collection or as an interesting, useful gift for a loved one.In ancient China ceramic pillows were commonly used as burial wares, although archaeological discoveries and literary evidence suggest they were endowed with multiple functions. As well as keeping the head and neck cool in the heat of the summer, they would put cold water inside to chill the ceramic. Ceramic pillows warded off evil spirits and made for auspicious gifts.

Approx Size 23 x 11 x 7cm
