270mm x 220mm first trade edition, published by Hodder and Stoughton, undated but 1913, bound in original decorative grey cloth, now somewhat frayed about the edges, with a discoloured spine. Pen gift inscription dated Christmas 1916 on the first endpaper, that is foxed. Most pages show some light foxing. 24 tipped-in colour illustrations by Danish-born artist Kay Nielsen, with intact captioned tissue-guards.
