Description: Bohemian engraved red and clear glass Gesundheit  goblet Circa 1890 1930. Ref GL-3
Maker: Unknown, likely to be Czech in origin.
Date: 1890 - 1930 estimated date
History: Engraved ruby glass has always been associated with Germany, Czech Republic and Austria. It is difficult to determine accurately where this goblet originated from, nor the exact date
Marks/Observations:  A lovely Antique Bohemian ruby red cut to clear glass drinking tumbler with engraved panels as detailed below :
Gesundheit (Health) below a serpent and staff. Glück (Happiness) below a cornucopia with flowers and a wheat sheath. Und Freude (and Pleasure) beneath a bugle, musical score and other instruments. There is one more panel with the word Liebe (Love) below a small monument with two hearts and a broken arrow. The glass has numerous imperfections in the way of bubbles, some white to brown swirl inclusions which may indicate the age is closer to the 1890s. The base has been hand polished, polish marks can be easily seen. All in all, a heavy goblet.
Condition: Good throughout, a few small fleabite chips to the base.
Dimensions: Height 13.4 cm x Diameter 9.2 cm

Price: R600.00
