The famous three - dubbed 'The Gariatrics' during the 1983 series against the Lions - combine with writer Lindsay Knight and unveil many of the mysteries of the front row, the 'hard' men of any test pack. The three were first chosen for the All Blacks in 1977 and provide an unprecedented insight into the workings of the national game's closed shop, the 'front row union.' Andy Dalton, All Black captain since the traumatic series against South Africa in 1981, has pertinent and thoughtful views on leadership in the game and Ashworth and Knight reveal the facts behind many of international rugby's most publicised incidents.
