This exhibition catalogue focuses on her work in that critical decade 1929 to 1939 and includes many of her sketches as well as paintings. Although well-known oil paintings, charcoal studies and gouaches are displayed in Journeys to the Interior: Unseen works by Irma Stern, 1929-1930, this is the first time that material from Stern's sketchbooks had been exhibited to the public.
