Midnight in Chernobyl: The Untold Story of the World's Greatest Nuclear Disaster

Early in the morning of 26 April 1986, Reactor Number Four of the Chernobyl Atomic Energy Station exploded, triggering the world's worst nuclear disaster. Based on declassified documents and scores of interviews with participants, Higginbotham's book offers a gripping account of the explosion and its causes, the frantic efforts to contain the damage, which exposed thousands of workers and soldiers to radiation, and the impact of the catastrophe on civilians. Large areas around the plant were so contaminated that whole villages had to be bulldozed and buried.

First softcover edition of 2019 published by Bantam Press, London.

Condition: Good. Front cover has a vertical fold.
