54TH FIELD ARTILLERY BRIGADE Insignia Patch

Original Colour Patch, Lot Numbers indicate Manufactured in 2001

Redesignated as the 329th Support Group (later Regional Support Group) in September 2008, the 54th Field Artillery Brigade spent the period between 1942 and 1997 designated as either an organic artillery element of the 29th Infantry Division, the 111th Field Artillery (or a battalion thereof), or a mixture of the two (i.e., Headquarters and Service Battery, 1st Battalion, 111th Artillery, an element of the 29th Infantry Division).

Even when designated as the 54th Field Artillery Brigade, the unit was assigned to the 29th Division (1917 1919, 1931 1942), an affiliation easy to grasp once you realize the Brigade and the Division were both originally formed in the Virginia National Guard. While serving with the 29th the Brigade earned six campaign streamers and a French Croix de Guerre with Palm under its rallying cry of To The Guns.

The 54th Field Artillery Shoulder Sleeve Insignia, or unit patch, was approved for wear on 29 July 1998, but in about a decade it would be rescinded with the Brigades redesignation as the 329th Support Group.
Shoulder Sleeve Insignia, a patch that was designed for wear on the right or left sleeve of the Class A Green Service uniform. CSIBs are worn on the right side of the Army Service Uniform introduced into 2008.

Approved on 29 July 1968, less than a year after the Brigade was formed from the Headquarters and Service Battery, 1st Battalion, 111th Field Artillery, the design of the insignia on the 54th Field Artillery Brigade incorporates only scarlet and yellowcolors that have been associated with Field Artillery for many decades. In the insignias center is a vertical field piece, taken from the Field Artillery insignia of branch. A scarlet bar divides the background into two distinct sections that represent military preparedness on both offense and defense, invoking the cry and motto of the Brigade, "To The Guns."

Original Fabric Insignia patch with full colour scheme to be worn on the Class A green Uniform. With merrowed edges
