92nd Infantry Brigade Insignia Patch
The 92nd Military Police Brigade (92nd MP Bde) is a military police brigade of the Puerto Rico Army National Guard.[ The brigade was formerly an infantry brigade combat team known as the 92nd Infantry Brigade Combat Team and then a Maneuver Enhancement Brigade. It includes two MP battalions, one infantry battalion and some support units.
The 92nd Infantry Brigade was established on 15 February 1959 as a separate combined arms brigade during the Pentomic reorganization of the Puerto Rico Army National Guard, replacing the 295th and 296th Regimental Combat Teams.
Blue and white, the primary colors used in the insignia, are used for Infantry units, with the blue in the field and the wavy white band symbolizing the Caribbean and the white disc representing the island of Puerto Rico. Below the disc is a furison, a device used in combination with flint to create sparks and a fire, recalls the sight on a battle rifle. Furisons are also used in the collar of the Order of the Golden Fleece, a Spanish chivalric order, as an allusion to the Spanish settle of Puerto Rico; the blue area inside the furison is San Juan Harbor. The furisons cross is another reference to San Juan as it appears on the banner of the crest of the Puerto Rican National Guard.
This SSI patch was instituted on the 16th of June 1964. This patch comes from an un-issued(surplus) lot manufactured in 1965 as official USGI military patch.
