A chinoiserie vase by Crown Devon Fielding's featuring a pagoda with trees against a deep burgundy background, richly highlighted with gilding and with a lustre ware interior.

These vases were hand painted after firing with the result that much of the detail is raised. This vase has a most unusual form in that the one handle is smaller than the other (this is a design feature, not a mistake) with fluted detail on the neck, almost as if the the vase had been twisted.

The backstamp was first introduced in 1930 and it is likely that this vase was manufactured during the 1930s when these 'rouge royale' type porcelain was very popular in England.

The vase is about 13cm and with the diameter of the opening about 5.5cm across. At its broadest point, the vase is about 7-8cm wide.

The piece is in very good condition for its age with no chips or cracks and with the gilding excellent. Typical of Crown Devon pieces, the interior and the bottom of the vase has grazing which is not visible on the 'front'.
