Petticoat Pilgrims on Trek by Mrs Fred Maturin
A charming book of memories of travel through, and living in South Africa at the turn of the twentieth century. Mrs Maturin has an engaging, entertaining turn of phrase and view of life: "Nov. 30, 1904 . I have heard of a dear little cottage in a Dutch dorp, twelve miles out of Johannesburg, where, so far, they have only had one murder, one house blown up by dynamite, another set fire to by a man who had insured it and was on his last legs financially . and four housebreakings by Chinese in four months . there is a scramble for it because it is so safe."

Binding: Hard cover

Book Condition: Fairly good for its age. The spine has been replaced and the first and last blank page looks newer. The rest is the original First Edition. See photos.

Edition: First Edition

Pages: 335 complete
